Proverbs 13:18-20 New Living Translation (NLT)
18 If you ignore criticism, you will end in poverty and disgrace, if you accept correction, you will be honored. 19 It is pleasant to see dreams come true, but fools refuse to turn from evil to attain them. 20 Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.
Let's face it: We don't know everything. As we are working towards making our dreams a reality, we must be careful to not be foolish and ignorant. When someone offers genuine help, advice and criticism, we should take the time to listen and really take note of what they're saying. No one really likes to hear what they're doing wrong, but according to the Bible, only a fool would ignore correction and criticism and continue doing things the wrong way. It's going to take us a lot longer if we keep making the same mistakes.
We should try to find someone who has done it before us, or has had a similar passion or dream and see what steps they took. No, everything isn't for everybody, but we may be able to avoid some of their missteps and build on the things they did well. As verse 20 says, "Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble."
